Photos from Louisiana and Mississippi

Here is another batch of photos from our US trip. For fuller reports please check my earlier blog posts. The trip got off to a great start with the Skatalites at Tipitina's in New Orleans.
Here is original vocalist Doreen Shaffer.
Next day we went to Lafayette for the Take Me To The River show featuring William Bell, Bobby Rush and Charlie Musselwhite, plus various younger Memphis artists. The first part of the show was taken up with a set by a local band led by Lil Buck Sinegal, who went on to back many of the artists at the Ponderosa Stomp.
Here is Charlie Musselwhite.
William Bell and Bobby Rush at the finale.
From Lafayette we moved on to Monroe for the North Louisiana Blues Festival. Here is a photo of the group in a bar in Monroe. We seemed to spend quite a lot of time in bars. L-R Lee Wilkinson, me (Nick Cobban), Alan Lloyd, Dave Carroll.
The Festival featured over a dozen southern soul performers. Here is one of the younger acts Rhomey with a dancer from the rather small crowd.
This is Nathaniel Kimble and his backing singers.
Here we have the outrageous Sweet Angel, and her backing singers.
This is L J Echols.
Another southern soul star, Theodis Ealey.
After Monroe we headed to Mississippi and found the marker to Jimmy Reed near Leland that we had failed to find on our last trip. Here's one to Little Junior Parker.
We spent that evening in Clarksdale and went to Red's, where Lucious Spiller was playing.
Here's one of the group with two Dutch blues fans, Lex and Lambert, in Red's.
The following evening we went to Cleveland, Ms, where three of the younger blues singers did a tribute to John Lee Hooker, L-R Kingfish Ingram, Jontavius Willis, Marquise Knox.
Next day we toured Mississippi looking at blues markers and here a few pix.
What has become almost an annual visit to Tutwiler.
That evening we visited the new Grammy Museum in Cleveland and enjoyed a show by Aaron Neville. More photos shortly.
